Glass
collections and
recycling for pubs and clubs
Glass recycling not only helps the environment, but can also cut waste
disposal costs.
Recycle-Direct.com collect glass for recycling across Essex,
Hertfordshire, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire and also inside the M25.
Collections are arranged to suit the customers needs. Recycle-Direct.com is
able to supply a range of wheeled bins, from
240l to larger 1,100 litre wheeled bins.
The cost of the glass collection
service is subsidised, we off-set the
value of the materials against the collection
costs, so the quality of
the glass we collect is crucial. This means that being environmentally
friendly not only saves energy and resources,
but is also more cost effective.
However, one customer could contaminate an
entire truck load, the result
of which is that it may have to be sent to landfill.
Glass-recycling bins that are contaminated
cannot be collected
until all the contaminants have been removed.
PRNs
For those Company’s that have obligations for
the recovery of packaging (PRN’s), Recycle-Direct.com is able to provide all relevant
documentation free of charge.
If you are uncertain as to whether your
organisation is obligated, please call us for free advice.
What happens to
my glass after it has been collected?
All glass collected is recycled, it is then
made into one of the following products.
•Container Glass - The glass is
re-melted and made into more glass bottles and
glass containers. Creating new glass bottles
from old glass bottles not only saves valuable
resources, but also uses far less energy • Bricks – Powdered glass can be used as a fluxing agent during
brick & tile manufacture, leading to significant
savings in energy and harmful emissions •Water Filtration – Recycled glass filter media can easily
conform with ever-tightening legislative
standards •Grit Blasting – “Glass Grit” is a totally inert material that
offers excellent abrasive performance at far
less risk to the environment • Sports Turf – Processed sand made from recycled glass is used
underneath the turf to aid both growth and
drainage •Fibreglass – Recycled glass is used extensively to create all
fibreglass products, particularly insulation
materials
• Coarse Aggregates – One of the most common
uses for recycled glass is road aggregate
